Women’s Literacy for Education and Empowerment

To ensure women’s literacy, an additional effort was made by organising adult literacy classes among women. Because of illiteracy women were often victim of financial fraud and exploitation.

In all 1,121 women have benefitted through village level literacy classes. These women were grouped in three categories based on their improvement level:

  • A Category (were able to read and write): A total of 333 women were able to read and write well after completing the literacy course
  • B Category (were able to read but struggle in writing): A total of 376 women were able to read and write partially after completing the literacy course
  • C Category (induction): A total of 412 women have started recognising the alphabets and words
